I watched the movie Machete last night, I gotta say it works mostly on one level, awesome!
However while I was watching the movie I couldn't help but notice how three of the major slants towards illegal occupants in the country are presented in the movie. Interestingly I'm not sure that it was an intent of the movie, more of a subconscious addition, but then again it's arguable that the strenght of the truth makes it difficult to do anything else. The movie's perspective is predominantly concentrated from one view, the illogical, emotionally based, whimsical fancy. The accessory perspective, the antagonist, is the view of the rich and powerful, control the sheep and profit, profit, profit. Underlying the overall movie is the third perspective, which in the end seems to be the one that's proven right. How much destruction and chaos did Machete cause, who in the end had to pay for the repercussions and clean up from it, and in the end was not the dynamic and culture of the land significantly altered?
It be nice to see Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again with him taking on the problem in Greece, or Canada, or France, or... hell film it in Mexico with him fighting for the rights of poor Guatemalans and Costa Ricans just trying to get a better life.
